Yog Sothoth - "Mythos Warfare"
Here is my band's first full length cd (which is available from us directly or through our facebook). It was recorded in the summer of 2015 and mixed throughout the cold northeast Tennessee winter of '15-'16. We're pretty proud of it. Those of you who listened to the early demos will find the production quality is better, but it is still violent black metal punk.

Tombstalker 7" EP
Hello everyone, sorry I haven't done anything on here in a while, life has been hectic the past 2 months, but I'm back and I do have some goodies in store for you all. First up is a brand new 7'' from Lexington, KY's TOMBSTALKER, who play vicious black death thrash. This EP is 4 songs of total fucking awesomeness. It is available from my friend Josh May's KARMIC SWAMP label and I highly suggest you get one. Imagine if members of Dissection, Dismember, and Iron Maiden started a band and you have a pretty good idea of what this band is all about. The production on this is killer, the drums are perfect, the guitars are very audible with that swedish death distortion we all love, and fuck, this just rips and you will be all the better for checking it out. If these guys play around wherever you live, be sure to check them out, because they will probably destroy whatever venue they're playing at.
coming soon to the blog:

Desolate Anguish - "Trainwreck Sessions" Demo
Here is a six song demo from Desolate Anguish, a two piece black/doom/punk band from Knoxville. These dudes played with my band Hex Hammer last night in Johnson City, and I thought they were great. This is six tracks of primitive, dirgy, punk influenced black doom metal that (in my mind) brought comparisons to Hellhammer and early Graveland (without the NSBM connotations). These guys ripped it up last night. This is raw, nasty, grimy, filthy, repugnant, with no pretense of production, just hateful scraping guitar, torn throat vocals, and very punk drumming. I think it fucking rules. If these guys play around yr area, make sure to check them out. Visit their website and ask for a copy of this cd demo, they give them away for free.

Sarcófago - "Rotting"
Sarcófago should need no introduction, their brand of high speed metal with lyrics about satan, sex, and booze being a big influence on many bands, especially their first album, the classic "Inri". Here is "Rotting", their second full length, which is 6 tracks in 32 minutes. The first track is a throwaway 30 second intro of moaning called "The Lust", which should have just been incorporated into the first real song, the ripping "Alcoholic Coma", and who knows why it stands on its own, but it does. This album seems at first to be sloppily played, but really grew on me the more and more I listened to it. My CD copy of this does not have the original cover pictured above, just a black cover with a grey logo and the name of the album in red, but it does have an awesome but blurry picture of the band on the back of it:
Any band with "Sexual Maniac" jeans has got to be killer, right? Right. So, invert your crosses, put on your bullet belts, grab some booze, and turn this up fucking loud!

Vlad Tepes & Belketre - "March To The Black Holocaust" Split

Here is the Vlad Tepes & Belketre split album. Both bands were French black metal bands, part of the Les Légions Noires scene in the early-mid nineties, which also gave us bands such as Torgeist, Mutiilation, and Brenoritvrezorkre. This is a fantastic split, as both bands try to out distort and out-grim each other. The Vlad Tepes side is my favorite, just check the awesome 12 minute long "Drink The Poetry Of The Celtic Disciple" for proof. Not to say that the Belketre stuff isn't any less killer. Their contributions to this split are shrieked vocals, light speed drumming, nasty distorted guitar, and both bands have enough atmosphere for 20 other so called "true" black metal bands. Truly, a split release that remains undiminished with age, unrelenting and dark black metal from both of these bands.

Venom & Bathory Split LP

Here is a split record by two bands who need absolutely no introduction. What I know about this record is this: apparently it was made in South America, in a run of at least 300 copies, but I can't tell if mine is one of those or yet another bootleg of a bootleg. The copy I own is on clear green vinyl. It is 7 tracks by Venom, and 5 from Bathory. The Bathory side is my favorite, as it seems to draw demos from the early stages of Quorthon's reign. The first song sounds more like the viking metal they pioneered, while the 2nd track sounds like first album stuff, 3rd track sounds like "Blood Fire Death" era, etc, etc. The Venom side is equally as good, with what I'm guessing is demos from the first 2 albums. A huge reason why I love this record and am very glad to have it in my collection is the fact that it could be just about the most black metal record I own. Sure, I've got some Darkthrone/Ulver albums, but this is really like having the birth of the genre on one LP, as you have the band that coined the term Black Metal and the band that truly defines Black Metal sound and aesthetics to me.

Peaceville Volume 4 (Compilation)
Here is an old Peaceville compilation I stumbled upon that runs the gamut from doom, death, black, and electronic noise and features some great bands when they were at their peaks and some pure crap (i'm not overly fond of the noise tracks, I confess). I wanted to post this earlier, but Mediafire has been giving me hell for the past few days and only recently has let me upload anything.

Sigh - "Ghastly Funeral Theatre"

Here is "Ghastly Funeral Theatre", an e.p. released by Japan's SIGH in 1997. This band pushes the boundaries of metal, always sounding to me like a metal band doing a lot of acid, watching a lot of 70's horror and listening to avant garde jazz/funk fusion/prog rock records. This e.p. is more squarely on the metal side of things, and is completely awesome, no filler tracks, just awesome metal. If you have never heard Sigh before, this is the place to start.
Also, what do you all think of the new banner up there?

Bathory - "Under The Sign Of The Black Mark"

Sweden's Bathory should need no introduction, and it's a damn shame that I haven't posted this here yet, but here it is now. This album is another of those albums that truly define black metal for me. Dirty, raw production, evil riffs, bashing drumming, and more. And just check out the riff at 1:30 during the song "Chariots Of Fire". Yes, Venom may have coined the term "black metal", but Bathory fully delivered the goods with this album. Features the all time classics "Enter The Eternal Fire" and "Equimanthorn" also. This album just destroys, and is definitely not for the weak or people who want pretty, polished, symphonic bullshit, 'cause there's none of that to be found on this beast of an album.

Venom - "Manitou" 12"

Venom is a band that should need no introduction, and I can't believe I haven't posted any on here up until now. Venom are one of the best bands ever, dirty, raw, evil metal that just flat out damn rules. I would like to take this time to say that if you're remotely into metal and don't know of Venom, then you're really not that into metal. If you even make the claim that you're totally into black metal but don't like Venom, time to hang up the spiked wristbands and take off the corpse paint, because you're just living a lie. Anyways, here is their 1984 3 Song 12", "Manitou". I love this little EP. It's everything awesome about Venom in 3 songs. The tape version of this, if you can find it, has an extra interview with the band, but this is just the 3 songs. Lay down your souls to the gods Venom!!

Yog Sothoth - "Alien Tongues" Demo 2010
Yog Sothoth is my black metal project. i posted the first demo from 2006 here last year. here is the new one. this one is just guitar, drums, and vocals, no overdubs, all "live", one take, direct to tape. it is 6 tracks of appalachian black metal inspired by Darkthrone, Ulver, Mutiilation, and of course, the stories of H.P. Lovecraft. I'm actually quite proud of how this tape turned out.
it is available from me, with packaging(tape cover above), on tape or cd-r. if you would like one, please contact me.
a big thank you to Adam Brewer, he of Globsters fame, for converting this tape into a digital format. i prefer the tape, but maybe thats just me.

Hellhammer - "Apocalyptic Raids"

If you don't know who this is, then there is really no hope for you. One of the first black metal bands, they eventually turned into the legendary Celtic Frost, and released albums throughout the 80's, until their last album, 2006's doomy, ultra heavy "Monotheist". However, we're not talking about what Hellhammer became, we're talking about what they were on this recording, which is 6 tracks of primitive power chord black metal that never gets too fast, like modern black metal, but is still evil and always great. includes the 9+ minute "Triumph Of Death".

Mystifier - "The World Is So Good That Who Made It Doesn't Live Here"

Mystifier is my favorite of all South American bands, just barely edging out the classics like Sarcofago, Holocausto, old Sepultura, Necrofago, etc. This is their 3rd full length, from 1996, a more mid-tempo death/black metal affair. great riffs, great death metal vocals interspersed with some operatic style vocals, and some tasteful keyboard work make this an album to not pass on. This band is still going in some form or fashion, their last full length, 2001's "Profanus" is also good but a bit faster and not as engaging as this album is to me. The first song, "Give The Human Devil His Due" was featured on the soundtrack to Gummo. I could give a shit about Gummo. In fact, I'll state for the record that I have never ever liked that movie. If i wanna see how "white trash" people act, I'll just walk down my fucking street and not have to pay for it, but i digress.
Mystifier. they kill and you'll love it.

Tenebrae In Perpetuum - "Onori Funebri Rituali"

Here is the debut full length from Italy's now defunct Tenebrae In Perpetuum. my italian is very rusty, but I'm guessing their name translates roughly to "darkness for eternity" or something similar, which is a great name for this band, who offer up eight tracks of trebly-guitar-tremolo picked hyper speed black metal that is cold and grim as anything from scandinavia.

Krallice

here is the debut cd from Krallice, an american black metal band who seems to be inspired by immortal, burzum, ulver, and guitar wizardry. this disc is 6 songs, all of them pretty long, with some weird riffage going on and amazing drumming. saw these dudes live last may and they blew me away. check this out.

They Live & Fowlwawahl - Live Split
here is a split live recording of 2 bands, They Live and Fowlwawahl. They Live is just what Assgasm called ourselves before we changed it to our more family friendly moniker. Fowlwawahl is brutal, black metal influenced dual guitar wizardry from Kentucky, and features members of Killer Panther. Like it says above, these 8 tracks were recorded live. This recording of Assgasm is actually our first recording, it's interesting to listen to and then compare to the last recording.

Black Metal Mega Post
Arkham are a French black metal band heavily influenced by Lovecraft and the Cthulhu Mythos, so that should tell you right there that i think they are fucking awesome. They've been together since 1994 and Metal Archives says they are still a band, but nothing's been released since 2004, and that was this 4 song EP, "Chapter III - The Madness From The Sea". awesome stuff that i totally recommend.Arkham - "Chapter III - The Madness From The Sea"
Here's Lamentos Ancestrales, some raw fucking black metal from El Salvador. I don't know a damn thing about these guys, other than they must be influenced by later Mutiilation, which is fine by me..gracias to Death Metal Danny in El Salvador for introducing this band to me.The Metal Archives has a page on them, but not much on it.
Lamentos Ancestrales - S/T (2006)
and last but not least, we have Spain's Uruk Hai. i know absolutely nothing about this band, i used to have this cd years ago and i ripped it and probably ended up selling it, but glad i kept a digital copy of it. this is fast, raw and evil black metal played at top speed and kult as fuck.Uruk Hai - "In The Side Of Eternal Eclipse"

TWENTIETH POST MEGA POST!
This is the 20th post since i began Scummified, so here is something special for everyone. Here are five demos from five very different bands, all from this area. I hope you enjoy. its now 9pm on August 29th, and i started this project this morning. Please download, and PLEASE, leave me some comments, huh? i worked really hard for everyone to hear some of the unique musical heritage this region has, and will continue striving to archive only the best punk rock, hardcore, and metal this area had to offer.
The Auditors Will Be Audited, The Accountants Will Be Held To Account
A two piece (guitar/drums) from the infamous Lenoir House, it was j.d. (ex-hadaka matsuri/jacuzzi suicide/kakistocracy) and me, and we were, as evan put it so rightly, "influenced by thin lizzy and blastbeats". we played a lot at the lenoir house, around town and regionally, and we also toured for 10 days in 2004 (playing chattanooga and murfreesboro,tn, bloomington, indiana, oberlin, ohio, pittsburgh, pa, athens, ohio).
j.d. ripped these tracks (the ones i ripped skipped) but i found the tape and scanned the cover and inside, which is also included. the demo cassette was only 6 tracks, but also included here is an unreleased track which was supposed to go on a compilation cd put together by travis from asshole parade, but never happened.

The Scams
The Scams were a local band who existed for quite a long time, only recently disbanding this year. members were also in The Business Machines (stuff by them coming soon!), Dissociative Rhythm Madness (also disbanded recently), and more. This demo, which i think is the last one they did (but i could be wrong),came out in 2007and finds them experimenting with almost "cowpunk" like sounds mixed in with their traditional hardcore attack. these guys are missed, a band that got better with each show up until the end of their existence. they were destroyers.
sorry, i have no track listing and no artwork except for a picture from their myspace.

Greed Disease
Another of my bands from over the years, Greed Disease was a two piece (me-bass/j.p-drums) anarchopunk band. the songs on this demo are all political and listening to it now i can tell it was written by 19 year old "activist(active in getting high, thats for sure) anarchist" me...and is it embarassing? not really. do i still espouse the same beliefs i did almost 10 years ago? some, yeah, but not all. this demo was recorded at 2 seperate times, first 7 songs in summer 2001, 8-10 were recorded 2000. this demo made its rounds locally apparently...people still remember greed disease even though we never played a show. oh well.

Mind Sludge
This demo is six tracks of total napalm death worshipping brutal, detuned crust-grind. a newer breed of local band, and sick as shit too. playing shows regularly around the area, so check 'em out. if i told you what other bands these kids were in it'd fill up a page.

Black Winter Holocaust
Black Winter Holocaust is a two piece black metal band from the mountains of southwest Virginia. Not much is known about this elusive duo. they do have a myspace, but there isn't very much on it. so far this is their only recorded output, four tracks of Immortal influenced cold appalachian black metal.

Appalachian Lovecraftian Black Metal

So I have been wanting to post this since the beginning of Scummified, but I was just waiting for the right time.
You could say I've been waiting until the stars were aligned in the proper positions to unleash it.
This is Yog Sothoth, my black metal project. It is 5 tracks of H.P. Lovecraft inspired black metal. There is NO racist/sexist/homophobic/nationalistic views in Yog Sothoth. it is purely inspired by a love for the region that I live in, a love for the writings of H.P. Lovecraft and the mythos that he created and others have added to; and musically inspired by darkthrone, ulver, and goblin.
please check it out, and let me know what you think. it hasn't been given a proper tape/cd release yet, but I am working on that.
Uusally the rules for downloading are if you like it, buy it. If you like this and would like an actual copy of it, just let me know in the comments and we'll be in contact from there.
through fathomless aeons he sleeps, waiting to awaken:
